Reading Day 23 – 28

Day 23 – Mark 2:23-3:6 – Lord of the Sabbath

Sabbath is a day of rest that is in the Ten Commandments.  What is the difference between God’s intention for the Sabbath and how the Jews kept it?

Day 24 – Mark 5:21-43 – A Dead Girl and a Sick Woman
(Short version – Matthew 9:18-26)

There are two “daughters” and “fathers” in this passage. The two daughters are pretty similar, however the fathers are quite different.  What does this show about our Father (God)?

Day 25 – Mark 6:30-44 – Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
(Short version – Matthew 14:13-21)

This is a miracle that is recorded in all four Gospels.  Jesus and his disciples are interrupted by the crowds when they trying to get some rest.  What was Jesus’s reaction to the crowd, and what did he do before feeding them bread?  Remember Jesus’s response to his first temptation in the wilderness.

Day 26 –  Matthew 14:22-36 – Jesus Walks on Water

Right after the miracle of feeding 5000 plus people, we read about another miracle.  How is this miracle different from the previous one?  How do the disciples react at the end of this miracle?

Day 27 – Luke 9:18-27 – Peter’s confession of Christ

After all the miracles and healing, the disciples are getting a better idea of who Jesus is.  What is Jesus’s reaction to Peter’s confession?  Jesus starts explaining what he must do.  Do you think the disciples understood him?

Day 28 – Mark 9:2-13 – The Transfiguration

We are now in the middle of Jesus’s ministry, and we have a powerful event that remind us of Old Testament stories, and Jesus’s baptism.  What did the three disciples get to experience?  How is that significant for the journey ahead of them?
