Our children at Living Water have been learning the life of Jesus since last year’s Advent season. We have been going through the key points of Jesus’s life and ministry, and currently we are in the latter part of his ministry heading towards the cross.

It is during this time that we come upon Lent. The word Lent is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for “springtime”, which is a literal translation of the lengthening of the days. Lent lasting for 40 days is in commemoration of the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert. Many churches also focus on Jesus’s passion as preparation for Easter.
(Sundays are not included in the count, since Sundays are considered “little Easters,” all of which celebrate the resurrection, so there are 46 days total.)

In LW Children’s Ministry, the two seasons seem to converge, and I thought it would be a great opportunity for the children to get a bigger picture while also reviewing the stories that we have been learning about.

So we are offering a Bible reading plan that focuses on Jesus for our Living Water families and teachers. Each Sunday, I will post the Bible passages for the week and some questions to help with discussion. We hope that you can use this for family devotions or study.

I will also be blogging each day sharing how our family’s Bible time went. The reason for my blogging is that I hope, as a fellow imperfect Christian mother of 3 rambunctious boys, I can be of some encouragement and support to you. We normally do not do family devotions, and by the end of the day, I am just eager to get all the boys to bed. I will share our journey as we go through this season focusing on Jesus.

Even if you are in a season in your life that you cannot possibly fit one more task in your daily life, I ask that you just ride along my journey, and maybe God will give you encouragement to do it in a different season.

(Bible Plan for the week will be updated at 7:00 am on Sundays, and blogs will be updated daily at 7:00 am)
